Interview with Sarah, a Rehab Patient at Al Wafaa Hospital in Gaza
Interviewer: Hello, what is your name?
Sarah: Sarah Yaqoub Al-Attar
Interviewer: How old are you, Sarah?
Sarah: Ten
Interviewer: Ten? What happened to you?
Sarah: We were hit. The house collapsed on us. First we had dinner, then we lay down on the bed. We heard the helicopters suddenly, so we huddled down. After a while, the house collapsed on us. The house was full of people. My father was killed, my sister Jana, Yousuf, and my grandmother. They were all killed. May God have mercy on them.
Interviewer: May God have mercy on them. Is that when this injury happened?
Sarah: Yes
Interviewer: When was that?
Sarah: 5/5/2025
Interviewer: Which hospital did you go to afterwards?
Sarah: The Indonesian hospital. After that, my leg was broken. Then we had to evacuate to a tent. My leg got broken at that time and I underwent two surgeries in Al-Ahli (Al-Ma‘madani) hospital.
Interviewer: How long did you wait before being admitted to Al-Wafaa hospital for rehabilitation?
Sarah: Five months
Interviewer: Five months. How long have you been here?
Sarah: Ten days
Interviewer: How is the treatment?
Sarah: Good, thank God
Interviewer: Can you walk?
Sarah: Yes
Interviewer: Do you walk by yourself or with devices?
Sarah: I walk
